Product Description
The Head Liquidmetal 4 still offers some of the controlled feel of Head's player's racquets, but with a more forgiving sweetspot and significantly lighter weight. More forgiving than the Liquidmetal 2, but more controlled than the Liquidmetal 8, the Liquidmetal 4 is geared toward an intermediate player with a moderate to fast swing who requires a slightly larger sweetspot than traditional player's racquets. Open string pattern further enhances spin and size of the sweetspot. NoShox handle reduces vibrations by 27% without dampening feel.

Amazon.com Product Description
The game of tennis is changing, and one of Head's key goals is to create specific technologies that ideally fit players' varied needs. That's why the company developed Liquidmetal technology, a revolutionary new material that produces a unique blend of power and control. The unique Liquidmetal atomic structure is 2-1/2 times stronger than titanium and delivers 29 percent more power. That means faster serves, better returns, and superior volleys. The secret to Liquidmetal's performance is its liquid atomic structure, which does not deform on impact. This allows Liquidmetal racquets to efficiently utilize the pure energy of each ball impact rather than losing it during the swing. Head takes full advantage of Liquidmetal by applying it to four strategic areas of the Liquidmetal 4's head, letting you power through the ball with confidence.

The Liquidmetal 4 racquet also employs several other Head technologies. The racquet's Total Sweetspot Construction (TSC), for example, offers an innovative corrugated structure that increases the torsional stability in the racquet head. This corrugation extends the sweet spot through the entire head, resulting in superior control. Now you'll feel like you've hit the sweet spot with every shot. The racquet also includes Head's NoShox dampening system, which consists of a unique memory foam integrated into the racquet handle. The NoShox system significantly reduces racquet vibrations by more than 27 percent compared to conventional racquets, so even the most powerful game will be easy on the arm. Finally, the Liquidmetal 4 includes an integrated string dampener that's fixed onto the grommets. The string dampener reduces string vibration even more, encouraging a more comfortable swing while creating the perfect sound and feel when you hit the ball.

The perfectly balanced mid-plus Liquidmetal 4 racquet is ideal for players with a moderate swing style.

About Head
Head's roots trace back to 1950, when Howard Head--the inventor of the first metal ski--founded the company. Head added the Tyrolia bindings and Mares diving brands in the 1970s, and more recently acquired the Penn ball and Dacor diving brands in the 1990s. Although the parent company is organized into four divisions--winter sports, racquet sports, diving, and licensing--Head itself is primarily focused on racquet games, including tennis, squash, paddle, racquetball, and badminton. Head has locations throughout the world, but maintains its U.S. operations in Norwalk, Connecticut, and Phoenix, Arizona.

5 out of 5 stars great pro racket for a full fast swing   August 7, 2009
Sarah C. Roinas (Seattle, WA)
at first i had a lot of difficulty with this racket because the sweet spot is smaller than with bigger, lighter rackets. however now that i have gotten used to it, i love it. the heaviness of the racket has helped my serve tremendously, making it much faster and lower. the one thing is, you can't be lazy about swinging it, you must make a full swing otherwise you will hit on the outer edge of the racket which doesn't have much bounce and you will hit into the net which is what i did constantly the first 3 times i played on it. this racket it great because it forces you to become a better tennis player, when you connect on the sweet spot with this racket it is amazing how fast and low the shot is. i highly recommend it just don't be discouraged at first because it is a lot different than beginner rackets, once you adjust your swing to the racket the results are awesome.

5 out of 5 stars What a racket!   May 5, 2009
Go Forth (Seattle, WA)
I haven't bought a new racket since high school tennis team (over 15 years ago) and treated myself to this racket. It is exactly what I would hope for in a racket! I am an intermediate player who serves and swings hard. This racket gives me an extra boost and good control... and it looks and feels cool! It's light yet substantial. I highly recommend it!

4 out of 5 stars Good All-Around Racquet   November 18, 2008

I have one HEAD Intelligence iTour racquet and two of these racquets and am currently looking to buy a third. It is a good all around racquet for intermediate players. Has a nice weight balance, but for beginners, you might want a lighter racquet (see Liquidmetal 8).

This is a good racquet for those who love to volley like me because it is light enough to maneuver at the net, while not extremely light where you lose all of your power at the baseline.

I wasn't too pleased with the built-in vibe-damp, so I bought a couple of extra vibe-damps and stuck one in each of my racquets. This made the racquet slightly more head-heavy, which helped my baseline game. I have an extremely short backswing, so the weight distribution of this racquet is perfect for my swing.

Overall this is a really good racquet for beginners and most intermediate players. Try holding a racquet in a store first though and swing it around a couple of times to get a feel for it. Here is a link with more technical details on the racquet.

Don't have time to write a long-long review. In all, it's a high quality racket, but not good for beginners as its size is relative small
